Dr. Mara Mangini grew up in Pittsburgh and is happy to still call it her home. After receiving her BA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004 where she focused on Architecture and Environmental Studies, she returned to Pittsburgh to pursue additional courses in the sciences. She excelled in these courses and was accepted into the honors society at the University of Pittsburgh where she completed her studies. Inspired by her mother, Dr. Kathryn Duncan Friedman, she attended The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she met her husband, Dr. Nicholas Mangini, and received her DMD in 2011.
Drawing upon her artistic abilities, attention to detail, and desire to learn more, Dr. Mangini chose to continue her training and completed a three-year advanced training residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. There, she received extensive training in comprehensive restorative treatments including surgical and restorative implant therapy, full-mouth crown and bridge, and denture therapy. While in her residency, Dr. Mangini was honored to serve as an instructor to pre-doctoral students, and she continued as part-time faculty at the Pitt Dental School for two years after her residency as a Clinical Associate Professor. Now, Dr. Mangini is excited to work side-by-side with her mother and husband, as one of the lead dentists on our Atlas Dental Specialists team!
Dr. Mangini is committed to continuing her education throughout her career and is an Invisalign Preferred Provider. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American College of Prosthodontics, the Pennsylvania Prosthodontics Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the Discovery Study Club, and she is an active member of the Pitt Dental Alumni Board, serving as a mentor to dental students.
Dr. Mangini enjoys rowing, hiking, and biking, and has never forgotten her architectural training, constantly remodeling and redesigning the home she shares with her husband, Nick. Together, Mara and Nick live in Sq. Hill with their two children Max and Maya.
